Just back from vacation and my cats are running away from me?

♥Pretty♥ ♥Kitty♥ asked:

My babies won’t even come to me. We left them (5) at home while we went on vacation and they run from me when I try to pick them up. How long will they be this way? I figure I smell funny or something. I can’t stand for my kitties to be mad at me.I’ve never left them before, any tricks to warm them up to me?

thats fairly normal, cats are spiteful things, they will come around when they need food or get bored and want some attention. it just takes time.

They are mad, but it won’t last long. Cat’s are funny little creatures–they want you to know they are not happy with you, but deep down they love you as only cats can!!! You will be hearing purrs again real soon!!!

You smell different to them. They think you are trying to fool them.

Get a can of cat food, feed it to them by hand, they’ll figure it out right quick.

Besides, they are pizzzed at you for leaving.

    Signed, a cat lover.

    Peace

    Jim

oooo boy are they mad at YOU. Mine do the same thing, as do the dogs, they are happy as ever to see me, then, they remember they are mad and ignore me for days. What I do , is make myself available to them.Don’t push, cats are funny that way. Offer treats maybe? Get a new fun toy and play with it, they might be interested enough to come join you. Give them time, fulfill their needs and let them get over their snit….

Cats get mad at you when you leave them. We experienced this when we went on vacation too. Give them a special treat so they know you still love them. Mine really like shrimp.

Just act normal like you do everyday. My cats do the same thing to me, it doesn’t last long. It probably takes a week for things to get completely back to normal. Sit and watch t.v., do chores, sit on your computer or whatever else you normally do. They’ll get back in the groove and start asking for attention again. You can also try just sitting on the floor and letting them come to you - if they still ignore you have treats to give them if they come up to you. Cats are just weird that way.

My cats do the same thing they are mad at you for leaving them. When I come home from vacation my cats will come out to see who it is and then disappear for a few hours just give it time they will come around.

Just give it a day or two. They’ll warm up to you again.

Just to make this majority more overwhelming, the cats are probably mad at you. Unlike dogs, who tend to get excited and forget about any ill feelings as soon as the human gets home, cats will actually hold a grudge for a short period of time. Next time you leave for more than a day, try to have someone the cats know (close friend or relative) come over just to hang out with them every other day or so, in addition to refreshing food/water and cleaning out the litter box. The cats want to know they are being cared for even while you are gone, and will probably be less jerky about it when you come back if a friend has been by often enough. I hope this helps! They’ll be okay with you soon, don’t worry!

They get seperation anxiety when you are away too long, and they are mad at you right now. They will warm up to you after a few days, but be careful! You could find an unexpected welcome home present somewhere! My cat used to always pee on something after I had been away for a while! He actually peed on my pillow one time after I had been away for a week!

Sounds like your cats are cross with you for going away, and are sulking. Give them a day or two and they will be back to normal. I always find that feeding them something special, especially things that you can hand-feed them, like prawns, helps.x

dont worry that is normal. Mine have done that to me the 2 times I have gone away. They act mad at me for a few hours then they cant stand it anymore and are my shadow for the rest of the day lol.

I just came back from vacation and my kitten, Romeo is sooooo mad at me! He would not come near me at all. He wouldn’t sleep with me, he
would jump out of my arms when I tried to hold him, he would run away from me when he saw me! This made me very upset too. After 3 days, he’s finally warming up to me. I sat on the floor and he sat on my lap. He’s getting back to normal. Don’t worry…it just takes time.

That’s not so bad…. Mine is completely freaking out…. I mean, A LOT. =( I don’t know what to do, just going about and trying to leave him tuna and treats… We did just get back tonight, but he meow-screams/hisses whenever my husband or I tries to get close to him at all, and is peeing/spraying all over the place at the same time. And it doesn’t look like he’s really eaten for the last couple of days. Aghh! 0_0
